16s are usually lighter than their 17 counterparts. Your speedo will read 65mph but you will be going 67-68mph maybe. We had one of those speed trap signs and went past one and my speedo said 55mph and the sign said 57mph. With my stock 15s on I was going 55mph past the sign and it read 53mph.

Weight isn't the only factor, just make sure you keep the overall diameter as close to stock as possible.
Remember geometry in high school?
I had a whole crapload of formulas and tools that help calculte the dimensions easy, but it's all on my home computer. I'll post when I get off work.

look at this. and look at this

thos will answer all you questions.
one more thing your tires will compress under the weight of you car. so the acutaly OD of the stock wheel is slightly less on your car than off.

Where exactly is the speedo mounted? I remember hearing somewhere that it was in or on the tranny.
