Default Ignitions set up question-NEWBIE??

Im a newbie so B easy on me. h:

But my question is i got a crane cams distributor conversion kit, a ps92 race coil:, is it ok to install those with just my stock ignition module on my 93 civic dx w/ b16 swap? Will it give me betta spark and burn fuel betta? Or would the stock ign just cancell out the effects? b'cause i have the hi-6dsr ignition(crane cams) but everyone tellin me its garbage, performance wise and install is a b!t<h Any suggestions opinions or FACTS greatly appreciated thanks all

ok, upgraded ignition of any kind is not needed for your set up. its just a regular motor a relative compression. No boost or any type of F/I so there is no need for the "badass" iridium plugs or any of that other fancy smancy stuff. you wont feel the moneys difference in your car like you will your wallet. The only reason for upgraded ingitions is for redlines about stock, greatly increased cylinder pressures. If you dont have either one then you will be dissatisfied. The spark of electricity from the electrode to the other piece has to actually move the air that is around it to reach the other piece of metal. The reason why more powerful spark is needed is because cars with a turbo or supercharger are getting so many molecules of air in the cylinder at a time that the molecules are tighter together. When something is tighter together it is harder to move it so there for if your spark is not strong enough to move the molecules, it will never reach the other side and you have a misfire. This is the only place that upgraded ignition is needed besides raised redlines. the thing about raised redlines is everything is happening so fast that the computer gets a little behind and causes incomplete sparks. Well if you have a spark that has a longer duration like aftermarket ingitions provide then you can expect the spark to be there at the right time. *Steps down from the stool* Do a search next time, it will help alot.

Thank's for that information, i knew most of the scientific breakdown tho, but i did forgot to say that ive got type R cams, valve spring/ retainer kit, AEM fuel rail/injectors/
press. reg/ bbk pump, bbk polished 68mm, pro products
type R intake manifold, all ready for install over the long
ass winter(damn snow), and then its on to the bottom end work to prep for future boost(evil laugh follows). But basically what i was trying to ask was.... would the added voltage from an external coil be too much for a stock ignition to handle? B'cause theres gonna be added fuel and higher compression in the future, I just like to plan ahead to prevent problems. Well hey, thanks again for sharing that with me and you sound like a person with alot of knowledge upstairs and look forward for some more great answers, talk to ya lata bro.

oh yeah i was at the strip tonight and this big dude had all stock(hmmm) civic hatch, same yr as my bizznitch(my first time at a legal race) so i ran him. so anyways here were my times(had minor difficulties after only 3 runs) 1st time eva at the tree....foul, threw the slip away, 2nd run....10.886(1/8 mile by the way lol) react-1.140, 3rd run....launched on him react-1.135 rear bumper detaches right side(wtf) mis 2nd gear grind the piss out of my already burnt clutch end up with et of 10.787. He got me both times except when i fouled so i had to see it, he pops the carbon fiber hood to reveal a nice red vtec valve cover(1st thought nice type r buddy) no it was a fu***** gsr swap (all stock huh buddy?). Barely holding a poker face i say, "wow she must not be tuned", not even his ride come to find the fu$% out. I mean COME ON!!! Ya feel me? Thats what a good 20-40 horses on me? Maybe HE was in need of weight reduction or something(big guy) But all in all I'm pretty sure I would've took him that 3rd time if all that shit didnt go wrong. I really need to install my clutch kit/chromoly flywheel, (oem i hate those letters) but I also still think that the ignitions would've helped some too, like you said not a heart stopping amount of adrenaline would be delivered but I have apexi vafc so I think I can get alittle sunntin sunntin out of an aftermarket ignitions with my set up. Oh yeah here is sleeper's times2nd-3rd run) react-1.353/ et 10.499, then react-1.463/ et 10.389, but I gave him props and his friend who actually owns the car props for the gsr, and come home with my tail between my legs,.... Just had to get that off my chest sorry. Thanks again

Hey dude, I didnt know you were going F/I(this was never mentioned). Anyhow it will be fine to install those items you were talking about. My plans are to go F/I someday maybe this summer. I hope I can save enough but you just never know about the way thigs are gonna map them selves out in your life. The answer to your question is no those parts will not hurt a thing and if you are gonna boost then you should go ahead and install.
