civic or transmission
Today i was driving and all of a sudden it was real hard to put the car into 1st or 2nd gear. I pulled over and turned it off. When i turned it back on and hit the clutch the pedal stayed down. Is my clutch gone? Or can it be something with the clutch cylinder? I have a 93 civic ex 5 speed hydraulic transmission and an act 4 puck clutch.
curious why you have a 4 puck clutch?
check the clutch fluid, master cylinder and slave cylinder.
check the clutch fluid, master cylinder and slave cylinder.

If the pedal just goes to the floor, I would say the clutch isn't fully disengaging and that's the reason it's resisting going into gear. Check your fluid system, there's a smaller master cylinder and resovour on the firewall between the fender and the brake MC. Make sure there's fluid in the resovour (it just takes standard DOT3 brake fluid) and follow the metal hardline across the firewall and eventually over the tranny and to a slave cylidner bolted to the front of it. Check for any leaks or wet spots. It's possible just one of those (the master or slave cylinder) is going south and not holding pressure, but it's also possible the pressure plate itself has failed and the clutch has nothing to push against.

Today I took a mechanic to check out the car. He was bleeding the clutch and the pedal did not come up. He said there was no leak and that the problem is the disc. My question is will it be safe to order just the 4 puck disc? or do i need to order a new pressure plate as well.
if you have nothing done to the car ...go with the street disc. you dont need a 4 puck. the 4 puck doesnt last long and is not suitable for daily driving.

It's most likely the pressure plate not the disk that has failed if the pedal's not coming back up, so regardless, you need a replacement. Do you know what pressure plate you were using (heavy duty, exterme ...). You might even consider contacting ACT and see if they would be willing to replace the thing for you, it's a long shot, but worth a phone call.
