Default Brake Pads

A few thousand miles ago, I changed the front brake pads on my Civic. I didn't really know what to get, so I asked the guys at the auto parts store, and they sold me some cheap pads. They sqeak, which is annoying, but not too bad. The bad part is, they warped my #$@*&^ rotors. First of all, about how much is it to get those machined / replaced? Second, what are some affordable brake pads for normal driving that wont warp my #&$^!^@ rotors?

40-50 dollars AEM brake pads have lasted me over 2 years, and still have 75+% pad on them, and i brake very hard alot. on stock rotors. so 2+years divided by 50 bucks=good deal

AutoZone rotors are like $20 a piece. You might want to consider them rather than having your current rotors turned. Once you turn a rotor, it has a greater tendency to "warp."

Look into Hawk HPS pads as well. Great pads for the street and some light track use. They're quiet and don't dust very much either.

I'm using AEM pads as well and I've been happy with them. I've tried a few differnet parts store pads (bendix and weaver golds I think) over the years and they've all worked about the same (I push the pedal, I stop, no fade even during spirited back road driving) and last about 20-30k miles. Most places will recut a set of rotors for about $10. I just recently replaced my fronts with Brembo blanks and have been happy. I bought them from here

http://www.importrp.com/honda_rotors.htm

and haven't had a problem and they were good people (I emailed them wtih a question and they actually emailed me back, it's sad that that's so rare anymore). I also bought new rear shoes and replacement drums (what I emailed them about) from them but even with 90k miles, the rear shoes were barely worn.

I love my Axxis Ultimate pads. I'm also running Brembo rotors
but the pads are killer.
