Only way I can open/close the sunroof is manually. Just bought the car. When I push the sunroof button to open or close, I can hear the motor turning but the sunroof doesn't even budge, like the motor isn't hooked up to it. Is this possible? How can I check it? Do I have to take the headliner off? BTW, the car is an 86 CRX SI. Thanks guys, I'm sure you can all easily help me.

 

When you [manually] open your roof, try lubricating the rails and the portion where it latches (the portion just in front of the dome light). My roof frequently has trouble opening (but not closing). I used a thick grease on it and while it was still oily, it worked without a hitch. Make sure you get a grease with some longevity to it - something that won't dry out too quickly. Hope this helps. If not, then perhaps you need a new motor.

if you hold the open button, and push it up, will it open then? mine used to stick on my 93. just needed some grease like said above.
