Default Newbie questions.. re: 97 Civic EX

97 Civic EX (I assume US version?) (2dr)

What's the engine model in it? D16Y8? Does that have "vtec"?

Is it "stupid" to turbo that engine (if it's the D16Y8) with the Eldebrock Turbo Kit, it's supposed to boost about 7psi for about 170hp to the wheels & I assume with other mods I could get around 190-200hp to the wheels. <--- scratch that!! I just looked online and well, the kit is $3500, I'm better off getting a B16 w/ bolt-ons than getting the kit..

Okay, well, i've had experience swapping engines (with the same kind of engine going back in) is it much more difficult swapping a B18C into my car?
Can you boost the B16a? I assume when you boost you get better results on a b18c, correct?

What are the speaker sizes in the Civic?

Thanks guys

Engine code is correct, and yes it has VTEC.
It's not stupid to turbo the engine, if you're content with the power of that. I'm not sure you'll get the numbers that you listed, though. Depends on the kit I suppose, but remember that a stock D16Y8 is only like 108 hp to the wheels.

Hmm... yeah you can boost a b16 or a b18c, but consider a b18b. It has lower compression so you can boost more without doing as much work, and it's cheaper too. No VTEC but who cares when you're FI?

Speakers are 6.5" in front, 6x9 in the back, and them 2 tweeters.

boost the y8. thats a great engine to boost. its so cheap to replace if you ever ****ed it up from boost. do a little internal work, and you'd have one fast puppy there.

i'm all for building the d series just cuz its not the bandwagon way to go.idk thats just me
