Default what do ya think

I blew my 99 civic Ex engine and since I am putting in a new one i figure i should add I/H/E, hi-flow cat, and an underdrive pulley. Im just waiting for them to come in now. The questions are...how much horsepower could i hope for....MAYBE 20hp? also, since the engine will already be out of the car, how much should i be expecting to pay for these components to be installed?

ps. please spare me the "forget that and boost" or the "forget that stuff and do an engine swap" comments. Thanx

You might be able to squeese 20hp at the wheels. The only thing that would be installed on the engine while its out of the car would be the pulley which you could do yourself if you wanted to. Infact you can do all of the items you listed by yourself. and then you wont have to pay a thing for installation.

haha, no way you will get 20 hp from I/H/E an underdrive pulley and a high-flow cat...on a D16Y8, you can't expect much...

well my horsepower estimates were wishful thinking i geuss.i probably could install the stuff myself but i just get worried when it comes to the engine. are there some bolts underneath the car that have to do with the removal and installation of the new headers? i couldnt get to those if i wanted too. plus i have no clue how to install the catback exhaust and catalytic converter...im sure its not too dificult but i dont be able to get underneath the car to remove and install the components

Header is real easy to remove. There is just bolts on the downpipe of the header, under heatshield, and of course bolts on engine.

Not really. I havent done my underdrive pulley, might want to ask someone else incase there is.

As for the header and cat converter they are relatively easy. Are you replacing the old cat with a testpipe or hiflow cat?

I have heard of the heatshield on stock header being a bitch to some people, but for me it was really easy, I just think it depends on how lucky you are.
