Want to race out a '90 Civic Wagon AWD
I have seen next to no raced out wagons. I want to use a AWD as it handles far better then the 2WD version which I have(horrible traction on high speed turns), but the problem is that the engine(1.5 liter) in it has dick for performance, any idea whick Honda and/or Acura engine would be best to swap with. There is next to no room to play with as it is, and I need an engine that leaves at least enough room for a cold air in-take, better radiator, and super/turbo charger. I was thinking about a B16B which I believe is a 1.6 liter, but I hear its very hard to come and there for very expensive.

I dunno but can you still use the AWD drivetrain after swappin in a DOHC? I would say the best for you to do besides swappin a compatible SOHC would be to just FI the engine.
This allows you to keep the AWD cuz you're jsut FI the stock engine. Build it up with whatever you can get your hands on that'll work and dump as much weight as possible. Lose all the accessories you don't need.
Lexin the rear glasses fiber the panels, crap like that unless you're actually gonna daily drive the wagon.

Relevance is irrelevant
yeah. B16 = 1.6, B18 = 1.8. at least I think that's usually the case. And I think you have to keep the D series tranny assuming that's what it is... I hope it's a manual. And you should be able to find a crapload of internals on ebay, but if not, I'm sure that manufacturers are making them. Good luck, and thumbs up for the idea.

That AWD tranny is probably not up to high performance driving...you'd probably spend a good nickel or two on rebuilding the trans to hold any kind of torque. Not to mention that even the mitsu AWD trannies are really bad about snapping axles because of the fact that one - they're only designed to hold so much torque, and two, (more important here)....is that AWD kinda-sorta has the same effect as running slicks......very little wheel slipage = lots of torque on those poor axles.

it's my D in a B
I recall seeing some guy's website with an AWD b16a powered wagon. He had to do a lot of custom work to get it working... it was definitely a big project. Try a google search. There is a quick one here locally that I've seen roadracing a few times, but I'm pretty sure he still has the d-series.
Also, this kinda belongs int the crx/pre-92 forum

I figured that this was in the wrong forums a little while after I posted this.
What search terms did you use to find that site? I have used B16a power AWD Civic Wagon, AWD Civic Wagon + B16a, and a few other combinations of that.
