I found this pic in one of my mags. and got to thinking.... why would u need to do something like that and whats the point??

it's an oil cap. so you can put oil in your car. h:

Wow, I thought someone would have actually helped this guy out in this thread. And for one I was hoping for a more intuitive explanation on that myself. I'm sure many of us know its a breather. But, what are its exact purposes?

Sigh, ok. The vacuum from the manifold can put stress on the valves. A breather just places the valve cover at normal atmospheric pressure.

mainly useful only in turbo applications as you dont want air to be forced into the valve cover.

when I had that hose hooked up with boost I was burning oil like crazy so I put a breather on and problem solved.
