Default muffler

i dont much about which mufflers fit on what cars so i just wanted to know if anybody knew if an APEXi N1 60mm muffler would fit on a 97 honda civic hx?

If you are talking about just the muffler it will definately fit if you have a shop install it for you. If you are talking about one of apexi's many N1 catbacks, only the one designed for your car will fit your car

I dont see why not. But you might as well just buy the entire catback, Apexi is fairly priced.

would there be an increase in performance and how will it sound without the full cat back?

If you don't replace the stock piping:
1) You won't make any more power.
2) It will sound ridiculous.

The sound wont be as bad as a full cat-back. And it'll be so much quieter.
