If'n u gots a rubber mallet, it helps to give a few good lateral whacks to it after you get the nutz off of it. It makes life easier, and is a hell of a lot better for it than prying on it with a screwdriver or pry bar.

What are you painting on it?
I just painted a friends D16 valve cover black yesterday. Turned out real good. I also have mine painted in camo, pic in signature.

If the valve cover gasket and spark plug hole o-rings are older then about a year, replace them or you'll run the risk of it leaking, puking oil all over the engine and smeling horrible when it burns off of the hot exhaust manifold.
