Default help removing bottom cushion of rear seats in 97 civic

aight guys... i've had it... i can't figure out how to remove the bottom cushion of my rear seats. i have the panels out, and the top section already removed(for other projects). i removed the 10mm bolt in the middle of the cushion closest to the trunk. i could feel how the front middle comes forward and then up(ie not really attached, just hooks under the metal on the frame).. but i cannot figure out how the sides are held down. there is one spot on each side. someone said its a bolt.. can't feel a bolt of any kind. someone said tug real hard.. i tugged the F*#@ out of it and it wouldn't come out. i could feel like a u-shaped metal rod feed down into like a plastic hole but i'm not sure how to free it. the rod is attached to the underside of the seat. there is a little free play in whatever it is that is holding it down. like you can move the cushion up and down maybe like 1/4-1/2 inch before it stops.

someone please help me get this damn thing out!

thanks

Luke

You fold the back part forward (toward the front of the car) and then pull it up toward the roof and fiddle with it until the wires come out (one on each side)

Easy once you know how to do it.

ok i tried doing that.. and i just about ripped the bottom out from the cushion. like the metal rod just about ripped itself off from the underside of the cushion!

wtf it is getting on my nerves

edit: my response sucked.

on my 99, the sides just push into place.

ok this response sucked too, but removal of the sides never had been an issue, it was that L bracket in the middle that always got me.

damn really.. the sides would not come out! even after looking into how it goes together, i still don't understand what you are supposed to do to really remove them. guess i'll just keep using a screwdriver if i ever need to remove them again.
