Type R (B18C5) Swap on EG ?????
I was wondering, what the difference between a
1996-1997 B18C Type R Engine
&
1998-2000 B18C Type R Engine
besides the higher mileages and price?
I'm thinking about doing a swap to a 1995 EG, which one would you pick & why???

the cam profile is different, the 98 spec has a 4.7 final drive gear on the tranny. but both have LSD. i'd go with the 96 spec because its a lil cheaper...but both have same rated HP.

They make very similiar power. It just really depends on the extras you want. The 98 spec has the 4.78 as mention and 4-1 header. 98 specs tend to make a little more torque but nothing too noticeable. If you can get a 98 spec for a little more say less $300-400 more then go for it. The final drive is worth it.
That applies to jdm itr b18c's. USDM b18c5 is the same all years, although 97 motors are considered the weakest.
