Default A quick few Questions

I usually am on the accord board but my girl just bought a 99 civic ex and i got a few quick questions.

1. The gas guages reads about 220miles for the first half of the tank(you can make 100miles before it even moves from full)then the next half only reads about 130 before it drops to empty. Is this normal with civics?

2. The auto trans is different from the accord. when the car is off and key is out of the ignition i can still take it out of park. Kinda like you put ur key into the little slot to move it out but nothing is in the slot. Does everyones do that? I know that mine is always locked until you do the previous.

3. Is the beam pattern broken up w/ honda headlights? Its not even like it has many hotspots. Im not sure whether this is just because of the H4 bulbs.

TIA

That's about normal for every car I've driven.

I've noticed that... I've found that even though the tank is 11.9 gallons, the gas light comes on when 10 gallons have been used. It's probably just calibrated that way to keep people from running out of gas, and saving your fuel pump from burning up.

Sorry, can't really help you with the other two questions. I drive a stick, and really haven't noticed anything like you've mentioned with the headlights. (I don't have much to compare it to.)

yeah, mine hangs out at F for a long time, then plummets down to E and stays at E for a long time before I'm actually out of gas. I dunno about that other junk tho:dunno:

Congrats to her on the 99 EX. I too have one.

#1 My gas gauge does the same thing - 250 out of the top half, 100 from the bottom half. And I can drive on E for what seems like forever.

#2 It's supposed to lock - check the override keyhole, it might be jammed open.

#3 You may need to adjust the headlights - they might just be misaligned.

I think my Civic headlights are pretty bad. My high beams are good but the low beams don't do that much IMO. I have OEM fogs which help a lot.
