Turbo a d16y8 engine?
there have been a lot of stock y8's running 10psi daily. If you want to go more than that, I'd recommend doing at least rods and pistons. I would also recommend getting head studs. I built the hell out of my D, and I'll be running 15-20 lbs daily. I also spent about $1200 on engine management...
Believe me, you can't just throw a turbo on your car, make it fast, and not expect to blow it up. I have boosted 3 different motors in my daily drivers, and never blown one. But I've taken my time, researched a lot, and know what not to do. REsearch is your best friend.
www.turbod16.com and www.homemadeturbo.com are a big help. On HTM's forum, there is a long thread about engine managemnt, and what you CAN get, and what will help your engine last.

if you run low psi then you might just need a fuel pump and an fmu. a step up from the fmu and fuel pump would be the fuel pump, injectors and an afc. on this setup you can run 10lbs fairly safely as long as you get it proffessionally tuned. a step further would be hondata s200b, fuel pump, injectors, and a good tuning. if you want to go all out then get an aem ems or another standalone system.

I'm just throwing this out there but how about a B20 and then turbo charge in the future. I hear they have some nice lowend torque. Would that be a good way to go? Maybe a turbo in the future. 2.0 liter turbo in a car that originally came with a 1.5/1.6
If you looking for cost effective & a "Quick" car to play with.. WSC has shown you the results.. & if your looking for a long term project including $5000+ & reaching the "Fast" car range.. then SWAP / BUILD / BOOST is the project for you. Money is a big factor in this as well as the final results that you are looking for in the time frame you wish to have.
