thrown rod bearing
ok i took it to honda to try and get them to fix the rod bearing but they said it would cost me between 3300 to 4100 to fix depending on parts that may need to be replaced like the clutch, drive belts, oil, coolant and so on. Is this bs or is it really that bad
If you're willing to do a swap, that means you're willing to do some work yourself. Yank the motor, have the bearing journals redone, and get the crank polished. Get some over sized bearings, new rings, and a head gasket, and you're back on the road. Might want to do an itr oil pump while it's out, but not a NEED. Cost of bearings, rings, fluids, etc should be less than 200, and the machine work shouldn't be too bad either.
Take the block to a machine shop, it will be much cheaper. I'm in the process of getting my gsr rebuilt with some Itr over sized pistons and all new rod and main bearings, plus thrust washers and its only going to be about $250, and thats with the machine shop supplying the pistons rings and bearings.
