Default Need everyones help/opinions/advice on spring questions...

Problem---I installed 4 new tokico illumina shocks on my car this past weekend, I also installed camber kits on the front and on the back, and put on 4 brand new 17 inch rims. The ride is smoother but when I go over bumps I hear a whine noise in the back. Turns out my tires are hitting the inside of the wheel well. I have coil overs in the front and the back (don't know what kind) and I raised them up to the same height in the front and back to accomidate for the bigger wheels. The front don't scrape but the back do. The back have been raised up to as high as they can go to where they stop when they hit the allen screws on the top but its still not high enough. There is at least an inch between the tires and the car in the front and back but the back still hit.

Question---I am pretty sure that its just a problem with the spring in the coilover. The spring has gone bad or something to where when I go around corners or bumps it doesn't hold the weight of the car and compresses too much and causes the car to hit. I am looking for some new coilovers to buy and install but I am not sure what brand to get. I am kind short on money and looking for something that should be descent but under 200$, hopefully 150$. Anyways... What kind of coilovers would you guys recommend. I would kind like just to be able to get replacement springs for my coilovers but it looks like places only sell the whole thing (spring, top hat, etc.) I have found some that don't seem to be too expensive and sound alright but who knows. I have found some such as dropzone, maxspeed, tenzo r, and OBX that seem to have good reads but there is no way to know but other then to ask all of you. I would like to get ground control coilovers or skunk2 which seem to be really nice but are kinda heavy on the wallet.

Sweet and to the point---Of the coilovers I listed, what ones do you recommend or others that I didn't list, that to you recommend that are cheap but will do the job of keeping my cars weight up and not be cheap and compress. I just need something for about 6 months to a year till I can afford to get something better. All replies are appreciated

honestly if you plan on getting something in a year or so I would just wait it out and get the ground controls... the quality isn't even comparable to the other brands.. and why waste your money on a cheaper one when I nice one is gonna be bought later on down the road

the only sleeve style coilovers I would trust are ground control and skunk2, personally. They'll run you a bit more than $200 unless you get a deal on some used ones... but don't buy used ones unless its local and you can check them out before buying them... used suspension parts is a little iffy. :a:

Well I would to get GC or Skunk2 but I need to get that got aweful rubbing in the back to stop. If I take a right or left turn up a slant...say into a gas station or soemthing...it has this screech noise and when I look at the tire...I can see alittle wear and when I feel under the wheel well, the rubber lining is getting worn off and if I wait long enough I will be on metal and that really isn't good. :nervous: I really want to charge it and get it over with but I really need to stay off the credit cards... If I need somethign now...is there anycheap brand yourcould recommend? Thanks

well, IMO, why pay for something if you'll just want to replace it down the road anyway. If you've got $200 to spend, you're most of the way there. How long does it take you to save up $100-140? I'd just do it right the first time rather than rushing into a compromise.

Is $278 shipped for GC a good deal?? Found a seller on ebay. Lot cheaper then some places. Let me know if its a good deal or if you know somewhere else where I can get skunk2 coilovers cheap...or should I just get GC. Thanks.
