i was in my mom's odessey going 70mph when a car in front of me swerved right into my path at 50mph. i barely touched the airbag as the odessey had pre-tensioners on the seatbelt. my passenger was fine too, he barely touched the airbag also. there was a minimal amount of smoke in the air, nothing to even complain about... it was over literally in the blink of an eye. the only thing i had was a tiny bruise on my knee from hitting the dash.

anyways, how do you guys sit in your car? i know alot of kids theses days like to sit all gangsta style in their car, making their seatbelts and air bag systems useless..... just a thought... the bottom of the belt should be taut just above your hips, and the upper anchor should be about ear level (its not adjustable in civic coupes/hb tho). you seatback shouldnt be more than 20 degrees from vertical.

well..... ford is good for something...... the seatbelts in my dads 96 explorer can lock....... all you do is, put it on normaly, and then pull the belt all the way to the end of the roll, then it locks and tightens and you cant move, it can only be tightened more. and you just unbuckle and the thing zips back up...

Seatbelts are there just to keep you from flying out a window/opening. They are not racing harnesses. You don't want the car to decelerate through you, do you?

My seatbelts and airbags worked fine, no delay. Got t-boned in an intersection in a '97 ex sedan. The airbag busted up the windshield on the passenger side, but no ones head hit the windshield.

When I wrote off my old 92 hatch, the seat belt didn't help much. It was tight, I sit up almost perfectly stright (not stunna styles) and I hit the steering wheel with my chest and cracked my sternum. Felt fugging great.

**** seatbelts.i tossd mine on my 91 civic hb.the si model has them built into the door, aside from it being really annoying to have to reach to the top of the door every time i wanted to put it on i never thought they were safe.so i threw in a set of weapon r harnesses.they feel a lot better, more comfortable and more secure.
