Shifter Issues ??
Ok heres my issue, I'm sick of my long throw with my shifter & i've been lookin at short throw shifters, My problem is I see shifters out there that i really like.. like the B&M & then i look on ebay & see the cheep 10 short thows. I know the phrase "you get what you pay for" is usually true when dealing with this type of a thing. What i'm lookin for here is anyone that has experienced the difference between the Ebay Cheep shifter & the $130 B & M or equaly priced / claimed quality shifters. Anyone that could shine some light on this for me.. i would grealy appreciate it. I don't have a problem spending the money if the quality is there.
Here's a pic of the B & M shifter This is their Web Site

I bought one of the $10 APC Short Shifters for my 99 Civic and think its the best improvement for the money i have made... I had a few problems at first, cause the shifter rubs my exhaust covering, but i cut out the metal shield and it works great... feels beautiful and makes a huge difference as far as the size of your gearbox goes... i dont see how spending $120 more can make that big of a difference...

I have heard of people's cheap ebay short shifters breaking off while driving. If I were going with a short shifter, the only one I would get is the skunk2 dual bend.

THe dual bend is what i got, only its apc... its not like its "joe's short shifter" I admit APC isnt anything great, but they are reputable enough to not put out a shifter that is gonna break or isnt strong enough to take hard shifting... imo the APC shifter serves the exact same purpose at 1/10th of the price...

nah i dont think theres any difference but the name, i have a "type R" brand short shifter that i bought for 20 bucks and ive had it on for about 6 months and i never had any problems with it. i dont think the shifter itself were to break if you shift hard. if you shift hard enough to break the shifter then i think you might have messed up something in the gearbox as well. i wouldnt shift that hard even if i had a skunk2 one either, thats just dumb and you're more likely to do something harmfull to the gearbox

As I have said before, stay away from no name brands, especially when it comes to important parts. I've seen more people break crap short shifters than quality ones.
I suggest either the B&M or the Skunk2. I have the Skunk2 and it's grrrrreat!

Even a 1% chance of the ebay short shifters breaking would lead me to either get a quality short shifter or stay stock until I can save enough money for one.
