Default OEM engine mount replacement

I'm looking specifically at the procedure in my trusty Haynes repair manual for replacing these mounts. Is it really as straightforward as:

raise/support the car
raise/support the engine
remove/replace the mounts

What are the torque settings for the corresponding bolts?

Yes it is. Sometimes you don't even have to raise the car. Support the engine just enough to remove the load from the mount you're interested in. Don't put a dent in the oil pan with the jack. But sometimes you have to remove a whole lot of stuff just to reach the mount (like the rear one). Doesn't the Haynes book tell you the torque?

What they don't say is that after you put the new mount in, you might want to adjust it. A little bit of movement - just the clearance in the bolt holes - can cause one mount to carry more or less than it's proper share of the load. Nothing's gonna fall apart, but it might transmit more vibration that you'll feel. With 217k miles you might not be that picky...

ya the rear is hard to get too i didnt see it till i pulled off my tranny head to replace the clutch :\ so that one is harder to get too.

the proper trq is crank the fooker down as hard as you can

It will tell you everything you need to know. Don't fell like d/l it? buy it from www.helminc.com, it will SAVE you $$, as you won't break parts from ' crankin the fooker down as hard as you can'.

come on you don't really need to set a friggen motor mount to torque spec... Just be realist in tightening it down. I mean you you could use a huge breaker bar and all kinds of crazy shit, but really all you need is a wratchet and some common sense.

well, getting it to proper torque would be nice, though. i mean, if you tightened it too tight, it could end up being weaker on the chassis.

I did the two torque mounts on my 95 hatch, and I didnt use a torque wrench. It seemd fine... It might be difficult getting a torque wrench under there
