My plans
So these are my plans, i want to get a D16Z6 head cheap and then send it off to KMS engine Devlopement to get a stage one P&P done. Has anyone every heard of this company? Or know any better or cheaper ones? Once i get the head done i will prob by an extra block and build that up.
Im email KMS to see what valves it come with. KMS is 475 and that comes with All casting marks in the air ports are removed to help increase airflow speed. The head is ported, polished, and glassbeaded to smooth out all minor flaws.
Depending on stage, you also receive race valve job with 5 angle intake 3 angle exhaust. The head is also flow tested in house on our flow bench. The final step is to deck the head by flycutting it.
And exospeed is $735 and it comes with Full Valvetrain Upgrade. Isky Titanium Retainers and with performance valve springs. 3-angle valve job as well as hot tank, new valve seals and resurfacing the head. 9000 RPM Ready!
If anyone has gotten this done then i will like to hear your opinions. I want to do a through research of the topic to find out where i can get the best deal.

In my honest opinion, just turbo it first like you want to, then worry about porting and polishing and all that good stuff later.
Save it for a B-series. Hell, that much money can get you a nice B18B.

turbo the D till it blow, swap in a b series built up.
it's better to have a flatter power band than a peaky one from NA.
personal preference obviously.

You look like you have your goals set. Instead of putting money in D series, I would go B series as well. ( or even K series if you can find a good deal on a type-s swap)
There are people with low 12 second all motor d series, but they have nitrous and the car is pretty gutted.
Try to set a HP goal and make up a list of expenses and add everyhting up. You will suprised sometimes...
For example, when I started working on my gsr block, I wanted to do it the right way.. So the block got hot tanked, the rotating assembly got balanced, I got APR bearings, OEM pistons, rods, etc... Once I got everything, I was way off what I thought it would cost me... So I sold everything and moved on to a more cost effective project... :P
