Jacking up the car
I'm painting my brake calipers and drums so that's why I'm interested in posting such a thread. I only have one jack and just need to hold the other side of the car up while I do the 2 front or 2 rear drums. I don't mean to hold the entire car up, either the front, or the rear.
Well.. is some flat pieces of wood good to hold?

i'm not sure about other floor jacks(hydrolic jacks), but mine has this safety peg that you put in a hole when its jacked up all the way. This metal peg will keep the jack from coming down if the hydrolic mechanism fails. I'd have no problem trusting in that.

Bricks or cement blocks are not the best things to use. If I can break one of those with my hands in taekwon-do it wouldn't hold up a car. Just jack up one side, paint it, let it dry for one hour and put the wheels on and do the other side. Infact I have 4 jackstands and just jacked up the front, jack stands under, jacked up the rear and jack stands under. Did the whole car in 2 hours
