Default Changing steering wheel - Civic

Does anybody know if you lose the horn when changing over to an aftermarket steering wheel from a standard that had an airbag. I have been told the connections mean the new wheel will not work even though it has a horn button.

it will work, but requires you to run a new wire.

i used to have a detachable steering wheel (momo) and my horn still worked.

A member by the name of Dnt94Civic did an excellent write up of how to do it.

I still can't visualize or think of the concept of how that works...
