Ive heard KYB AGX are only made to handle about a 1.5 drop and this is all they are warrantied for. Do you guys think I will have problems down the road with these shocks with about a 2 inch drop (1.9 front 1.7 rear)? Has anyone run the setup for an extended period of time and had no probelms?

 

Well you should be good I have a couple of friends who have the same setup which I will have next month...which is H&R race with kyb agx and they have all had it for a few months now....One guy has a 98 hatch one guy a 99 SI....and another a 92 hatch....
But if the warrany is a big issue for you then I wouldn't do it.... But if you did blow your shox....how would they know how much of a drop you had ? :rick:..
Oh and the H&R race are 2.25 front and back + or - .25

it says on their warranty info that they can tell if it has ben lowered too much becuase of some piston wear or something like that. I forget all the specifics now :a:

 

If you can save a little more, I would go with Koni Yellows. Lifetime warrenty

Yeah if you have your shocks sitting on a certain drop for a long period of time . There will be a mark on the shock . That can be one way of them telling how dropped the car way ! But ahhh you will need to change your shock sooner or later . Honestly By the time your ready to change them you will not even care ! Goodluck

 

I don't see anything wrong with that setup. The springs are pretty soft. The only problem I see is the warrenty, as long as you don't manhandle the shocks during the install (scratching the rod) you should be fine. The shocks may wear a little faster then a drop higher then 1.5" but you will still get plenty of life out of them.

 

shocks usually fail over time and also by "bottoming out" frequently. by shortening the stroke of the shock with shorter springs...your shocks are prone to "bottom out" more frequently than on taller springs. this is the reason why shocks have "bump stops" to prevent such case. if the shock is sent back for warranty and case from research is because the shock failed from "bottoming" too much rather than normal wear and tear or defective failure...they have every reason to reject the warranty claim.
