Default Rad Support Help plz

I'm rebuilding my crashed sol as cheaply and easily as possible. I have most of my body parts (hood, fenders, bumper) on the way. I drilled out the spot welds and removed the upper cross bar from my radiator support. I was hoping that I could get a new cross bar from a 92 - 95 civic in a wrecking yard and that it would work out.

Someone in another forum pointed me to a website that would sell just the upper bar (instead of the whole rad support). That forum is down right now and I can't find anywhere on the web that sells radiator support parts for a del sol. So here are my questions:

1. Would an upper cross bar from a 92 - 95 civic radiator support work in my del sol? Will the hood latch ok? Will my lights and bumper cover bolt on? (I don't mind making a few minor modifications)

2. Can anyone point me to a site that sells rad support parts?

I've gone over the repairs in my mind a hundred times and I can't see any other problems popping up after I get this rad support issue fixed. Thanks for any help you can offer me.

Yes, no, and no, respectively. Sure, it'll bolt on, but only the civic hood will latch to it, and only the civic lights and bumper will bolt to it.

For some more clarity, look no further.
Unless you're converting to the civic front end, you will still need the sol radiator support. The area where the hood latch is, is totally different. The latch itself is the same. The front beam for the civic is actually shorter than the sol one. I only know this because my other sol had a civic one on it after rebuilding it from a crash, and I compared it to the old sol's beam. It doesn't support the ends of the bumper correctly, so it sags. If you live near MN and want to pick one up, I'll give you one for 20 bucks...

thanks for all the input you guys are a great help. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to replace the WHOLE rad support. That is more work than I really need to do to get my car fixed and 210$ is more than I really wanted to spend on fixing the rad support. I've seen a parts list for the sol rad support and it is possible to buy just the upper bar, but I can't remember where I saw it and I've tried and tried to find it again. I haven't actually made it to a wrecking yard yet (I live in Phx, AZ), what do you think chances chances are that I can fond one in a wrecking yard, I'm thinking chances will be slim to none.

thanks a lot gots_a_sol, that is exactly what I had seen before. $66 plus shipping is a lot closer to what I was wanting to spend on this part of the job. I can't really do anything until I get that cross bar. I can't bolt the fenders on, I can't put lights on, I can't put the bumper on. I suppose I can put the new hood on and just leave it propped open.....lol. anyway, thanks for your help

Like I said, if you lived closer, I'd let you pick up that bar... I didn't reply to your email, since I'm always on here. I don't want to ship it, cause it''s big, heavy, and would be a bitch to ship. Probably 40 bucks for shipping because of the length...
