Default New Exhaust....cat problems

Well, I ordered an Apexi WS for my 95 Civic DX Sedan (with D16Z) and went to put it on tonight. Got the old one off (had to cut it cause some bolts were completely rusted on) and went to put on the new one. When I went to put it on, I came across a problem. The triangle-looking end of the cat didn't match up with the exhaust. On the cat, it looks like a pyramid and on the exhaust, it looks like an upside-down pyramid. So, it won't bolt on. Now, I can only think of doing one thing....flipping the cat upside down. Is this normal to have to do this and is this my only option? Also, what effect will this have on the cat's effectivity? Thanks

It will work fine no matter what the orientation. For example, my car's cats are almost verticle. The catylist bricks do not care which way they face as exhaust gasses flow through them.
Flip it.
