Ok I just did my swap and the guy said it was a 94 motor and 96 tranny ! How do I tell what kinda tranny it is ? The reason I ask is because it feels like a gsr but Im not sure thanks .

 

The only way you can tell since it probably doesn't have the # on it. I always split the cases and count the teeth on the gears and final drive. h:

Yeah Im not gonna go turbo anytime soon . So Yeah Im happy I thought it was an LS tranny .

 

GSR is good for turbo's too. They dont have rediculously short gearing like the ITR tranny.

What kind of gearing do you have? Mine is very similar to the LS and at 70mph Im at exactly 3000rpms. My friends jdm gsr tranny runs 3000rpms at 60mph.

 

Don't know because I just swaped a B18b1 into my Hb and because of the f**king fuel rail bolt I can not drive it ! ahh I worked so hard and I have no ride !

 

Long gears are teh suck.

 

My GSR tranny is at 4000rpms at 80mph.

 

Untrue.. that was pounded into my head when I was first going turbo and so I got an LS tranny... it started going bad so I went GSR and it's so much nicer. I'm faster in the 1/4 and it spools much faster.

I only wish the 5th gear was a little taller so that it woulnd't be at such a high RPM when I'm running down the highway. Granted, I can race a lot of people without even having to downshift, but I'd rather get the better mileage.
