this whole matter depends on what you want to do down the line. if you have an auto tranny then get it upgraded, with a tranny cooler and that sort of thing, get a supercharger and let that be it. with a auto tranny you arent going to get much done. on the other hand, if you are gonna swap and you are mechanically inclined, you can find a deal like westcoaststyle and i did and get a whole gs-r for like 600 bucks, sell the gs-r out and find a block for the amount that you sold the gs-r out for and build away. im sure you can get into a nice setup if you spend around 600 bucks for a motor that needs a little work. put the work into it and at the same time upgrade things. do the swap and go budget turbo if you want. ive heard of people scoring the whole kit for like 1200 dollas, thats not much, then you spend 1200 on tuning it and so forth and you will be within budget and happy with the setup, but it takes homework. without homework you will have none of this.

Considering the parts that are now available for the Dseries motors you can make one twice as fast for MUCH MUCH less than you could swapping and then adding parts.
Sleeper is right on all points. We both have the experience and the knowledge to claim what he has said. I still get about 28 mpg on 93 octane fuel and run a 12.6.

I don't think you realize that with the correct tuning you can drive daily without effecting your regular mpg. You could run 30 psi and still get great gas mileage. Of course, if you're boosting all the time and pushing the motor to the edge constantly, you will get horrible gas mileage. That could be said about even a stock motor.
Listen to Sleeper, he knows what he's talking about.
