Default Tire/spedo question?

I have a question about the tire size and spedo guage...

If I upgrade the stock tires from my 95 Civic Ex to 17" wheels/tires, what will I have to do to the spedo to make sure the mph is correct?

If I am right the stock size is 14"

Is the difference of 3" enough to throw of the spedo alot?

I dont think it will make anychange on your speedo . But im not 100% sure I mean I think no matter what size rims you put it will always be the same . Your car will not go faster do to tire size !

Ha Ha...

You mean if I buy 21" wheels I can't get any more speed, even if the spedo reads 100mph?

I understand that I wont go FASTER, I meant the calibration of the spedo...

I thought that the bigger wheels would read slower/faster on the spedo...

Ha Ha, good post.

Thanks

Yeah nah I really really don't think it will change but I might be wrong . But if you lift your car on jack stand and remove the wheels and put it into drive and gas it . It will read the same . or at least it should ! Im was'nt trying to be an ass b4 !

You have to make sure your tire profile is correct otherwise it will throw off your speedo. If you have 185/65/14 tires on there now, you don't want to put 185/65/17 on there or it will throw off your speedo.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you want 215/35/17 on there. I'm not sure if the 215 is too wide though...
