Default opinions about chips?

Do you guys reccommend chips on the ecu in your cars? Is there anything bad with them? Do they really produce a difference in horsepower?

a chip should be one of the last things you do to the engine. with that said, those generic one size fits all ebay chips are worthless. you should get a chip custom tuned to your specific application.
