Depends on where you live. Some areas have noise ordinance laws. And the N1 is not considered your QUIET exhaust I run mine everyday without the silencer.

I was told by the police that any modification to the OEM exhaust is considered illegal.

I would take it to court (get a lawyer) and say so down the road if your OEM muffler rusts out and you have to get a new one you have to pay $600 for a new OEM muffler instead of a Pep Boys $100 jobbie which does the same thing? That's crazy!

My wife had to get her Jetta's exhaust replaced. VW Autohaus was asking $600! Midas was $200.

just pay the ticket and move on...its not a moving violation its not a big deal. i have probably the loudest exhaust on this board, and i havent got pulled over for it yet, i bout the car w/ it though so its not my idea to be this loud. but my sister has a universal exhuast on her car and its quiet and she got pulled over and ticketed for it.

The modified exhaust being illegal is so damn stupid! There are Chevy pickups with "modified" duals that are louder than hell, but no cop pulls them over. Or how about Harley Davidsons? Some of those are louder than any Honda, but they don't get pulled over... That's complete BS.
