Default Gauge cluster hell

Okay this is what happened. I bought a si cluster from ebay to replace my stock vx cluster which already came with a tach (vx redlines at 6krpm). To my suprise, the si tach was way off. After the pussy wouldn't return my emails, I attempted to swap the faces of both tachs that I owned at that point. That as you all know resulted in me owning 2 broken tachometers. Okay, then I bought another si cluster from ebay, insured the package this time and slapped it in my car. Now heres how my new tach is acting. . .

All of a sudden my car idles at 600 rpm instead of 800? WTF!! Well vtec 2ndaries still kick in at ~5800 rpm but I know somethings wrong because 80 mph is at 4400 rpm (5th gear) when its suppossed to be at exactly 4 k rpm. Is this really my 3rd broken cluster? Did honda make them not accurrate? WTF I'm freaking out!! :upset:

I'm no freakin' help. I have a VX cluster in my CX. It works perfectly. From what I hear, they're all supposed to be interchangeable.

I know they're interchangable but I'm just having some bad f_cking luck with these things. Its like little things keep on going wrong. My right corner signal lense is full of watter drops, my jdm clock is acting wierd, I got ebay people flaking on me. I wanna drive this shit into a tree I swear.

You may be on your 3rd broken cluster. Mine is at 4k at 80mph with 195-55-15's (stock size for GSR) and I run an EX cluster.

I assume that changing the red line marking is what you were trying to do...

I used black sharpie and "changed" the red-line on my vx tach. It's not really all that noticeable, but the 6 mark and numbersare still red. I don't care... because just like it says on your avatar, I too drve a #@%^ing egg.

How did you break them?

I have an extra CX cluster you can have, which has the same bezel as the rest of the 5g hatches (if all it is is the lens or bezel that's broken) and the idiot light lenses are interchangeable, too.. There are only a few screws holding the guages into the cluster from the back.

Not knowing, I broke them by taking off the needles. all I want is a tach that works. I had a good one orignally (vx). Anyone that has a tach let me know.

I cant hang with kilometers or custom brakets/wiring/fitting. All I want is simple and clean. Still got your stock cluster Outxider? Hook it up- I'm your neighbor.
