Default Is my car surging?

Check it out....lately but not all the time when i start my car the tach will jump from 500-1250rpms about 3 times. I remember reading about what causes it to happen and don't remember and don't feel like searching. I know i am in dire need of tune up. I am getting the timing belt, water pump, valve adjustment, timing adjustment, new spark plugs, and spark plug wires, etc...next week. So just some helpful clues or ideas would be nice THX:thumbup:

They get dirty or stick. You could try to clean it and see if it fixs the problem. If you shake the IACV it should rattle if it doesn't then you need to clean it or get a new one.

take off the IACV which is on the back of the intake manifold,..should be 2 or 3 bolts (cant remember) and 2 hoses connected to it,..if you take it completely off,..a little coolant will leak,..dont worry about it,..anyways take some carb cleaner and clean the screen,..you will see what im talking about when you take it off

It could either be the IACV or TPS.

yes it is..

should look something like this pic....or more likely the two coolant pipes will be straight down depending on model...

If you have to take it off, just remember that it is coolant...

btw: this pic is up-side-down.
