Default engine question

ok as you probably know, i dont plan on racing. You could say im allshownogo, im a ricer...whatever. I have a question though...

my car has 148k miles, so ive been told to do something about it. What do you guys reccomend i do? Is there just some major parts i can replace to make it run longer? or is it the whole engine or nothing. Any advice is appreciated. If you need pics of the car/engine let me know ill take some.

if you haven't already, change your timing belt. actually, it should be near time to change it the 2nd time. other than that, just make sure you do your maintenance regularly.

If it's not smoking, ticking, or knocking, leave it alone. Change the oil regularly along with the timing belt and other wearable parts and let it go.

why wait till its broken? its called preventative maintenance for a reason. if you have the parts and dont want to wait. you might as well do it.

Yes, DEFINITELY change the timing belt and tensioner. Do NOT wait until it's broken cause it will probably ruin a lot more than the timing belt.

Other items that could be changed are the cap/rotor/plugs.

You would also benefit from doing a valve adjustment.

Is it burning off any fluids (oil, coolant)?

i hear some clanking noise under the front of my car but i told it had something to do with the brakes. Im getting that checked out soon. But besides that, the only other sound i hear is my directional signal on (when its not really on), but i dont think that has to do with the engine. Im also getting that looked at btw. Thanks for all the tips, ill be saving all this for when i take it in to the shop.
