Default Damnit I hate Car Sounds..

Note the following: 99 civic Automatic LX. Basic mods I/h/e BUT with stock axle back. NO CAT....just a resonator..

Last night when i was driving home I noticed a metal scrapping sound coming from my car....

It happens when im starting off and I'm around 2-3000 RPMs and around 20 mph then disappears but I hear it if im at like 60mph and i keep the RPM's at like a certain level...

I'm not sure if It's a tranny problem but i hear it when i reev the engine wether in Park, Neutral or Drive.. and it's not so much in the engine bay...but it seems like it is coming from under the car...not only that.....from my other post where i said i was hearing a metal chirp sound like the sound you hear when you roll up a car window...I'm trying to guess if it's cause it's something loose along my exhaust? Im going to the dealer tomorrow...just needed some input...

Nah no cat...
I tried checking it out today..it was bad coming home from school but then i came home and me and my friend hand tightened a bolt that connects the downpipe to the resonator. The scraping is like almost gone but it still is faint.... i think a gasket somewhere along the exhaust system is bad or something. The metal squeek sounds like a belt, but im not sure which one...

Anyone know the costs of exhaust manifold gaskets and like other gaskets??

Does this sound like it could be a problem?

yeah i had a nice metal scraping sound also, turned out to be a combo of 1 bad engine mount, and the downpipe heatshield was rusted out of existance, and a bad rubber hanger. I just replaced the mounts and used a screw-clamp to tighten the shield till i could get a new one.

Bad engine mounts would make your car shudder right?

on mine, i didnt really feel any extra vibration, they were deteriorated just enough so that the metal hinge plates were rubbing during engine vibration due to rpm's speeds. Just sounded like metal hitting and scrcaping, they are easy to scope out. Mine went bad after like 4yrs, outside storage year round, it split acutally.

check yer exhaust heat shields.. the undercar ones.. maybe one is hanging low enough that yer exhaust rattles against it with the right load..
