Default Hybrid Forum FAQ

As some of you may have noticed the Hybrid forum here is pretty dead. We thought maybe a FAQ could revive things. I have come up with a list of stuff that applies to Hybrids plus a few other things. Put down your answers and I will compile everyones input. Then post it back up for final editing. Thanks guys.

-Which motors go into which cars?

-What do the motor codes stand for?

-What seats will fit in my car?

-What do I need to run A/C or Power Steering?

-What wiring is required for differnet motors, years, etc?

-Do I need a mount kit?

-How do I swap X front end onto Y car?

-How do I swap X brakes onto Y car?

-Good suspension setups w/ different engines and chassis?

-What do the different chassis codes stand for?

-What JDM parts will bolt in/on so I can be cool?

-What gauge clusters will bolt in? and how can I wire up differnet ones?

-How do I modify my exhaust for different setups?

-Engine building tips for different setups NA, turbo, nitrous etc.

- How much Boost/ Nitrous can I run safely stock?

Thats a bunch, but Im sure there are more. Add anything you can think of. Thanks, Robert.

I'm no expert, there's some guys in the clubsi forum that are guru's, so I suggest asking them for detailed explanations... here's just a few quick answers I learned while researrching my motor.

-Which motors go into which cars?
Any Integra and Civic (D, B-Series) engine is virtually interchangeable. Even the Prelude H22.

-What do the motor codes stand for?
Example: B16A B= The Series (D,B,H,K,F,etc) and the numerals usually refer to the displacement in liters. 16 = 1.6, 18=1.8, etc.

-What seats will fit in my car?
If you're running a Civic, any Del Sol, Civic, or Integra seats will bolt right in without major modification (of any)... that's for the fronts... The rears, however are a little more hairy.

-What do I need to run A/C or Power Steering?
If you are swapping, and your car already has A/C & P/S, you'll might just need new brackets.

-What wiring is required for differnet motors, years, etc?
Depending on the ECU-- ODB1, ODB2, Pre-ODB, might need conversions.

-Do I need a mount kit?
Yes and no, some people run GS-R ones and are fine. Others prefer the stronger stiffer racing type ones, for drag-racing much movement is undesired, I chose to run with GS-R ones because I'd rather have quiter less chatter.

-What do the different chassis codes stand for?
Civics, 92-95-EG, EG6 is Hatch I believe, EG8 & EG9 are sedan, that's all I know off top of my head.

-What JDM parts will bolt in/on so I can be cool?
Eh...

-What gauge clusters will bolt in? and how can I wire up differnet ones?

- How much Boost/ Nitrous can I run safely stock?
Not a big fan of NO2, so IMHO, I'd rather not.

-When do the OBD's change, what about in Japan?

-Differences in Later Model H22's

-More Exotic F and H series engines
