I have an oil leak; i think it is comming from the distributor. I was also told it could be the vtec?

i have a d16y8

is there a gasket that would fit inbetween the distributor and the head that i could buy? I was told by mechanic that there is no gasket, but rather the metal that seats it is very thin and deforms to make the seal.

any help would be awesome; want this done asap. thanks

 

i was gonna say a cam seal but u only have one cam. :chuckles:

hmm i cant really recall cuz i havent own a dseries long enough to know....

 

i think there is a gasket,.its like a o-ring but its not in the shape of an O,..dont quote me on that

 

I quoted you on that, and there is an o ring but that is it. I had to buy a new distributor (sp?) when i went to the z6.

 

yes on the seal and yes it could be that. Moroso just started making a beefed up dist for the Z6, look it up if you are planning to buy new.

 

the z6 distributor and the y8 are interchangeable? I thought that was one of the changes made to the y8 head

would a distributor be okay to buy used?

or should i buy new
