I too think the system is over hyped but that doesn't mean that it's bad...

If you're a V8 guy, I think you might just have bought the wrong car. Of COURSE the thing is biased toward the upper RPM band - it's supposed to be! That's the whole point of these cars, and is exactly why so many people like them! If you don't like or want to rev it that high, you should've bought a non-R version, or better yet, a V8. I own both, and I definitely appreciate a big torquey motor, but I also appreciate these too. You just have to remember what their design intent was.
you are quite right, i ment low end torque, not torque in general. check out the avitar, the car is provided by work, so it didn't cost me a thing...

I have good days with it and bad, i love the handling, and some days, on a twisty road it is a lot of fun, but deep down i love the low end grunt of the V8's

Horses for courses.

I may well buy a civic of my own for winter though, the Type R went back to Honda today.

I do feel it hasn't lived up to its build quality reputation though.

i cant recall if its Jap or UK built, the accords i have driven were UK built, and i must say were superb.
