Default lost power?

this may seem very odd to you guys but you know when you are accelerating and you flip on your AC and you car bogs down a bit will latley when i am accelerating it will often feel like the car is restricted just a bit and sometines it will just all the sudden get a tiny burst of power like the AC was turned off (this whole time the AC is off) ...i called the honda dealer asking about new spark plugs and they said that the plugs will last about 100,000 miles, and my Civic Si only has 48,000 miles on it...so then i called my local mechanic and he said that sometimes the plugs can wear out at aobut 50,000 miles if the car is driven hard but it is unlikely...the new plugs are $20.00 each and i was wondering if any one you had any good advice

It is from the ac belt. When the ac is on the belt is turned by the crank pulley (is it the crank???? whatever) thus putting more stress on the motor. Just turn it off when you race.

id recommend going to an auto parts store, getting some NGK plugs (what come in your car), and replace them. theyre only like 3 bucks each.

If that doesnt work, try checking your plug wires, distributor cap and rotor.

If that doesnt work, try fuel filter.

good luck!

if you have 48,000 miles id suggest changing the cap, rotor, plugs and maybe wires also.

i usually change those every 10-12,000 miles cause i have an SCI.

Never wait 100k to replace your plugs. NEVER!! Any good mechanic will tell you this. The threads (from the head) will come out with the plug if you wait that long.

When you do put the plugs back in, be sure to put some anti-seize on the threads. This will prevent the aforementioned from happening.

As far as the sudden surge of power, I get that with my car too. I assumed it was just the switch in duty cycle for the injectors. Any ideas guys? My car is non-VTEC, so I know that's not it.

im having the same problem with my car, cept mine is a 92 dx hatch. ill be accelerating, and it juss stops acelerating and actualyl slows down the car, then ti just takes off and accelerates. Its happens uphill, downhill, cold, warm, night, & day. i dont know what it is exactly, i changed the furl filter, checked the cap n rotor, exhaust n intake r definately not clogged, my best guess is a sensor is wrong,

the only thing that confuses me, whenever this problem starts its like the engine loses the power to pull the car, yet it is able to rev without a problem
