Three options, IMO. B-series (bolt-in, good for beginners, where I'm starting), Mini-me (Head swap on your existing DX block) (Second thought, is the 5th gen DX a 1.6 or a 1.5?), or use the search button in the upper right corner of the screen and read a LOT of threads about swaps.

You've got a great platform to work from with that car. Good luck. Check out the hybrid forum too.

Depends on what you want to spend. Do you want to be really fast, for extra money (b18c/b18c1) *best option*. Or do you want to be fast, and affordable (b16). You can also go with an LS motor (non-vtec) b18a/b18b.

It also depends on whether you want to be all-motor, or boosted. Or if you are gonna keep it stock.

i'd say b18b. best bang for the buck if you ask me, well in canada anyway. a b18b is like 3000, while a b16a2 is like 5000. with the extra 2000 you could build the mofo and be just as good, if not better. but it all depends on what you want to do with the car. like dude said above, do a search. this topic has been dicussed to death.

what engine is a bolt in for a 99 Civic Ex? I am planning on doing an engine swap with a USDM motor.
