Most would suggest to you to replace the stock bushings with the polyuthrane (sp) bushing. From what I have been told iif you get the poly bushing makes the shift smoother. So it won't hurt anything if you have the stock bushings in.

They won't make a big difference but they will help in the long run. Usually they will last longer and I'm guessing that the stock shifter has a few miles on it and could use a new set of bushings anyway. Also, check and see if the boot is okay that goes over the bottom of it. You don't want road salt or water to get up in there.
