Default Blew my motor....ringlead cracked...

Well, early last week I went to get my boost controller installed. On the drive it home, the car ran fine, but after a while I noticed a whurring sound from under the hood. It sounded like a WRX...cool sound..but NOT normal so I worried.

Took it to Inline on Fri: diagnosed it as a cracked ringlead :madfawk:

So, my car was sitting in the driveway...not running

But, don't loose hope all you SOHC junkies, my D16 will be back up and running in the spring

*Dropped the car off this morning at Inline for everything to be fixed and then some*

I'll post whats being done this afternoon!

WCS: Why not? They are world wide known, close by, and I get great discounts=

Stock internals...the motor only has like 13k on it, and I ran the boost at 4-5 mainly...for only about 2 months..kinda quick to blow. huh?

Ya, SleeperCivicEX has ran his at 10 psi for over a year now and runs it at the track almost every week... no problems.

Something's fishy

WCS: Yea...I mean..it could be something other than a ringlead, but the crankcase was smoking, which is a bad sign. I'm sure its something internal. I may take it to Inline and have the dis-assemble it and see. If its blown totally, then I'll do a DOHC swap, but its it salvigable, then I'll just build the D.

Help me decide:

A) Part out my D16, buy a DOHC motor, build it, and boost it.

B) Take my D16 to Inline, build it, and use Inline's Prototype D series turbo setup.

Which would be your suggestion?

i would personally go for a b18c and turbo it. then again, alot of people are using sohc motors these days and making plenty of horsepower with the proper combination of parts ranging from pistons to rods, cams to p'n'p stuff. i suppose go with ur gut instinct and how deep ur pocket it
