Default I've got a cow under the hood (noise)

I noticed on my '95 EX that there's this noise that happens within 30 seconds of starting the car. It sounds like a grinding noise, more like a cow trapped under the hood. It only lasts for about 2 seconds. The car seems to run fine. The previous owner says it's the fuel injection and it's normal?

Any ideas?

Are you sure it's under the hood? My guess is it might be the fuel pump. How loud is it? Any other way of describing it other than the cow thing.

You guys seem awefully fixated on farm animals...

Seriously though, when I start the car, within about 30 seconds there's this noise that comes from the engine, near the throttle body. It sounds like a low grinding sound, and from inside the car it sounds like a cow. Only lasts for a second or two. The previous owner says it's made that noise since almost day 1. She said a Honda tech told her it was the fuel injection system and it was normal. I've never heard of that.

Is your AC on? Try turning it off and see if that fixes it. Mine doesn't make a "cow" noise at all.

the belts could be too loose, giving you a scratching noise. but sounds more like a bird, not a cow :exnbp:

Ever notice the noise at any other point that the car is running? The way you described it sounded like a heat shield on the manifold or something rattling. Mine used to make a sort of a grinding noise when it rattled.
