Default common problems to look for when test driving?

Me and a friend (wambamcivic) are driving down to charlotte tomorrow to check out a 95 EX Coupe, I was wondering if there was anything really simple too look for.

Also is $5k about right for a 95 with 115k miles? KBB says a little more but I know you never want to pay what KBB says. I'm kinda hastey about getting another car because my tranny is about to shit on me and I can't afford another new one.

Thats is not to bad of a price............I would look for the things like oil leaks, how the body panels line up ( to see if its been in a wreck)

Well I've found a couple of hatches at better prices, but I need a place I can trade my car in.

Yeh I made the mistake of buying my Eclipse with a leaky headgasket, but luckily I had a warranty.

Are you trading your Eclipse in on it? If you are buying it from a dealership thats a good price.......you better check it out good to make sure you are not getting someone elses junk.

oh yeah make sure you check everything like cruise, power windows, heat,AC,rear defrost, and anything else it may have

Check the cv joints for sure and all the little things.

Your ditching the DSM for a Civic, the DSM guys are gonna hate you
Sucks that your tranny's going though, that's the major weak spot on those cars.

Mine's non-turbo so I don't think they'll be too mad

They don't have that one listed on autotrader anymore but I found a '94 EX closer for $3500. I'm really wanting a d16z6 so I can just turbo the sohc.

[edit]
Well I blew my old clutch doing a burn out a while back and it shattered the housing on the tranny so I bought a used tranny off of wambamcivic's brother for a real good deal but it's having some problems.

What time? Where at? Need someone to go with you? I can also test-drive it for you on another day and send you my thoughts if you like.
