you go for the sleeper look? :eh: IF you're referring to your car, then ya've got the wrong idea, theres nothing sleeper about it.

like everyone else has already mentioned, dont bother stripping out the interior, wont result and in any drastic changes. Just go and have fun.

WCS: whats the drawback to having the cam cover off and not having a hose connected from the intake to the valve cover?

Don't even worry about it. IMO the car looks nice, just get it painted and it's all good. If you like it, that's all that matters, if you're not worry about making it a speed demon, keep the interior in. As for the 1/4 times it should do somewhere around 16's.

I've been searching for about 10 minutes now but can't find what I'm looking for.

A while back someone posted a link to a thread where a guy had no cam cover on his DOHC motor. He was pointing at them and talking to a friend when he accidentally stuck his finger between the gears.

It ALMOST ripped his finger off and actually caused the motor to stop.

That's one reason.

The other is that it is possible for a rock or some type of debris to get into your engine bay and drop into your lower cam cover... it would destroy your timing belt if it hit just right and could bend your valves... over a cam cover and a little rock. That would ruin my day.

The cover was made for the engine for a reason. Use it.

WCS: What about those half moon cuts in the valve cover to get at your cam gears for tuning. Those ok or not?

I read a lot about that kind of thing when I was researching the oil catch can. I saw that people were saying that the piston rings don't seal correctly when you don't have that breather hooked up. It also does not allow for correct vacuum pressure within the engine (from my reading). I guess it all comes down to why? If you can get a little hose that was originally part of the OEM design, why wouldn't you? Some engineer in Japan decided that it was a good idea to add that hose, why should we argue with him? h:

I say no for those as well. Still allows for the same problems I mentioned before. How often will you really need to adjust cam gear? So unoften that you could remove your valve cover and the upper timing cover to make the adjustment and reinstall the cover.

It's a mod for looks, not for usage.

It's jmo, but I think that it brings a reality to the situation.

I used to have the same setup (with y8) with the cheapo intake with the hose off and it sucked on both bottom and top end...bottom end was caused from the hose and the mid and top were from intake...best thing to do is get rid of intake and get an AEM...HUGE difference especially with the HEADER...and EXHAUST...heh
