I can't even count how many time I've need light and the stupid dome light was too far back and not bright enough.

Oh man, the maplights are so great...I could leave my dome light permanently off and I wouldn't miss it. The maps are infinitely more useful.

...That and they make for some beautiful night time shots:

thats a pretty picture osx2000, almost makes me wanna go spend some money.:thumbup:


one question: do you need the door rods or is that just to make the lights come on when you open the door.

I'm actually not even sure what the lock rods they sell are for...I didn't need them. I don't have any problems with the lights interfering with the locks, though I did have to adjust the handle cable in its clip.

The only way I can think of to make them come on when the door opens, would be to wire them directly to the dome light...and that would turn them both on when either door is open...kinda annoying IMO.

Most people tie them into the power window circuit, but that means they only work when the ignition is on, so I went a different route. I ran wires from the doors into the cabin and plugged them into the fuse box with the dome light's fuse...seemed appropriate.
