Info through engine code
Through the engine code, is there a way to know what the engine is for sure.
I got an engine and was told it's a JDM type R engine directly from Japan.
I have the engine code, of B18C stamped on the motor.
This is the motor, any info would be appreciated

Still here... sorta...

It's either a JDM SiR-G or TypeR. The SiR-G is basically the GSR, but it had the LSD option. Only way to REALLY know is to do a compression test (I think). SiR-G will be at 10:1 and the TypeR will be at 10.6:1.
BUT, do the SiR-G's come with the ITR red valve cover?
Easy to swap out, but not sure if someone would....
That looks like a TypeR intake manifold though.

Looks like a real B18C Type-R to me. The Intake manifold, the red cover, and that hint of green by the distributor. All SiR-G's had the standard black cover.
Look at the casting code on the head, above the exhaust manifold and a little to the left. It should have "PR3" and the date cast into it.
I think that motor should have 11.1:1 compression.

the intake manifold and the b18c tell me it is an ITR. The 1900786 can tell you what year it came from, also there are stamps on the head, just above the gasket that can tell the same thing. I'm not sure how to read the number below the b18c but maybe honda can...??

Was thinking USDM ITR = 10.6:1
Looked at my own posted link to see JDM ITR is 11.1:1.. haha

Cool, i do plan to have the engine checked by honda so i'll try to get that info about it at the same time
Supposedly there are only 3 like that in the province where i live here in canada and none are in a 4 door car, so it should be rather fun to say the least :naughty:
