I don't understand how 17's would rub any more than a 15" or 16" wheel. When your wheel gets bigger, the tire gets smaller and your overall diameter of the wheel and tire should stay the same whether it is 14, 15, 16, or 17" if done right.... that's what plus sizing your wheels is all about i.e bigger wheel - smaller tire or smaller wheel - bigger tire.

I think they mean the sides rub...as you go bigger the width of the tire generally increases.

yep, but it all depends on the offset. Get the suspension you want first, then find a while that will fit under it. Or get coilovers
