I just did both my axles, but I had them rebuilt opposed to buying remanufactured axles and returning original ones. It's the best way to do this imo, because you know they'll slide right back in.
The lowered car thing is bullshit, tell them you'll file suit in small claims court. It costs like $20.00 and I guarantee that a judge will side with you considering they did'nt even last a year. I have had my civic for ten years and it's been lowered for five. I have only had two sets of axles. Where do you live in Hawaii? I grew up in Kahaluu in Temple Valley. BTW, you will get your court costs and any other expenses back too (i.e. lost wages, etc.)

just today i noticed that my CV boots ripped and grease lined inside the fender on BOTH sides. i just got new ones installed not even a year ago. i called the shop that did them and they gave me the schpiel about how "lowered" cars dont come with a warranty and how they rip faster due to the drop. i said BS cause i dropped my car when i first got it and the stock CV boots did rip until last year. then he goes well what year is your car and i said 96. so my stock CV boots lasted 6 years while the "new" ones they put on only lasted a couple months. they did not want to help me out at all. bastards.
then he told me they dont use honda OEM boots its some generic brand. that made me more pissed cause when i first got them done they told me it was OEM.
there goes another 200 bux on nothing.

You wouldn't believe how much money I've wasted getting ripped off by shops over the years... it makes me sick just to think about it. Now, nobody touches my car but me and my roommate.
the cv boots were the only thing i didnt do on my car. for temporary i installed a slip type boot to extend the life of the joint for now. if the 5 speed axles fit on an auto i can get some for cheap.
can anyone confirm that the 5speed ones fit on the auto tranny?
