Default clutch problems

i cant even put my car in gear with the clutch pedal all the way down. it just grinds. i can put it into gear when the car is turned off, but i cant shift into any other gears after that.

my guess is its the pressure plate, but im not sure, and i need this fixed ASAP!!

help me out guys what do you think this could be?

Check the free play of the clutch pedal..sounds like too much free travel....if that's not the problem it sounds like something isn't letting the clutch disengage fully..

Edit: Ah...didn't read the part where you said you can switch gears when the car is off..... that might void my opinionated diagnosis....

there isnt that much freeplay in the pedal action, i checked it with my haynes manual.

btw i cant shift into ANY gears when the car is running. only when its off. then i turn the ignition and the car starts rolling, almost as if i'm taking my foot of the clutch pedal, but im not. i can shift out of first, but then i cant get back into it.

Not positive what it is, my friend had that problem with his 3rd gear and it ended up being something wrong with the shift fork...

If first the only gear you have problems with or the whole gear range?

i cant shift into any gears when the car is idling...all it does is grind, and thats when i have the pedal pushed all the way down. i can start my car in first gear, and it will just start moving, but the clutch pedal will still be all the way down.

Edit: ok i just went and picked it up from my work where i left it last night, and i drove it home, and i could get it into gear at first, but after driving for like two or three minutes, i then noticed that it would start to not be able to put into gear....almost as if it only does it when it gets warmed up or somthing. i checked my fluid resiovor and its full.

WHAT THE HELLS GOING ON WITH MY CAR????

BUMP!

Don't know what else to say man...if it's not something like the springs or the pressure plate then you might have tranny problems...
